  • Jamin Johnson, Master Nelson and former CBS3's now currently ESPN's sports anchor Don Bell were on on hand to wish Kristie well in her new job.
  • Then it was off to Kristie Gonzales' going away party at Del Frisco's.  Monica Devlin, Rich Furino and Kristie Gonzales. As I mentioned last week, my dear friend Kristie is headed to Fresno to accept a position as Creative Services Director at KFSN-TV, ABC30 in Fresno, California. She's so excited, but is sad as she leaves many friends behind. <br />

  • Before we end the story on Del Frisco's the above saying is in all of the Del Frisco's restaurants, and at the end of today will also be tattooed on Del Frisco's GM Rich Furino's back.  There it will join his other food tattoo's of hot peppers, an olive branch, a blue hard-shell crab, a crab and grapes.  Rich tells me he grew up in the restaurant industry, his parents owned a little Northern Italian restaurant in Hoboken, NJ. Food is his life, and each item is a fond memory or a tribute.  The grapes are a tribute to his Italian grandfather who made his own wine.
  • Wednesday night Del Frisco's was packed like a Saturday night, I tweeted.  And as I ran out of the place to go Michelle Miller's birthday party, I ran into another birthday celebration grandmom Lynette Honigman with her family. A women never tells her age, grandmom told me.

  • VH1's Tough Love Steve Ward and Aly Green, Silencia PR make the scene.  Aly's gearing up for her big event on Monday at the Crystal Tea Room "Mentor Me" where Philadelphia Eagles DeSean Jackson is being honored.  After wards she's throwing a party at Sumo Lounge in his honor.
  • Collecting the award for Chris Bartlett, who was away on business, was Family Court Judge Ann Butchart with Philadelphia Gay News publisher Mark Segal.
  • Desiree Hines says get ready for her Farewell Philadelphia season of performances for the 2010-2011 Artistic year as she is headed to Texas to attend school next year to further her study in music.  On December 1, in NYC the 20th Anniversary OutMusic awards, to be aired of LOGO TV,  will open with a Classical Music performance featuring Organist T. Desiree Hines with the Traverse Arts Chorale.
  • Fourth-annual HEROES Party, a fundraiser to honor leaders and allies of the Delaware Valley's LGBTI community was held at Trust in September.  The 2010 Heroes included Chris Barlett is Executive Director of The William Way Community Center which serves the LGBTI community in the Philadelphia region through various services and programs. Bartlett, a gay activist, feminist, educator and researcher, has been a leader in the Gay Men’s Health Movement.  The Mazzoni Center provides quality comprehensive health and wellness services in a lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT)-focused environment.  Whole Foods<br />
Whole Foods has a long-standing tradition of supporting the LGBTI community. The company is consistently ranked among the most socially responsible businesses.

  • Sunday afternoon in between the two big game, Square 1682's hosted their first ever cheese steak challenge to celebrate their 1 Year Anniversary. Cheese steak fans Mike Sheridan and Jim Werner were on hand to try the tasty treats that a panel of judges would be choosing from.
  • David Boyle from Davio's serves up cheese steaks in egg roll casings with wiz and it went on to tie for the People's Favorite.
  • Local "celebrity" judges food writer Michael Klein, Publisher Laura Burkhardt, Cheese Steak king Tony Luke, Meryl Levitz, GPTMC executive director, Eric Cortez, Uwishunu, Nicholas Hammer, Thrillist pick the best meat/cheese/bread combo from 10 chefs, including hotel favorite Guillermo Tellez, Square 1682, Brinn Sinnott, Noble, Peter Woolsey, Bistrot La Minette, Jason Goodenough, Happy Rooster, Mike Stollenwerk, Fish, David Boyle, Davio's, Denise Marron, the Grille at Morrison House, Paul Healey, Domaso, Massimo De Francesa, Nios.  $20 is all it took for the gathering foodies to enjoy as many cheese steaks as they wanted.  all of which goes to benefit Philadelphia Academies. Philadelphia Academies is a charity dedicated to expanding life and economic options for Philadelphia public school students through career-focused programming, preparing them for employment and post-secondary education.  Lisa Nutter and Mayor Michael Nutter greet the guests.
