• Thanks to Sarena Snider, and Christine for hosting Mike and I. We had such a fun time with the girls and Gaga.
• Last night she told the crowd: “What’s everyone’s big problem with my meat dress?” Gaga referencing a dress made out of meat which she wore at Sunday night’s MTV Music Awards. “Haven’t they seen me wear leather? Next time, I’ll wear a tofu dress and the soy milk police will come after me.” Gaga is a vegan but wanted to make a statement wearing the dress, saying: “As you know I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth. If we don’t stand up for what we believe in and don’t stand up for our rights pretty soon we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones.”
• Frank James, Hacina Saadi, Jamin Johnson and Martin Nelson. Hacina has been out of the Philly spotlight for sometime now as she spent the summer in Aspen Colorado. Welcome back!!
• Chaired by Michael Solomonov, Audrey Claire Taichman, and Stephen Starr the event took place last Wednesday night in a warehouse in Northern Liberties. There was food stations, mixologist on hand, a silent auction and a very lively auction Rendell who added an unannounced auction item of his own: Dinner for two and tickets to join the Governor for a World Series game. That is, if the Phillies make it to the World Series. There’s no refund if they don’t. Michael Nutter than chimed in that he would join, and I believe Audrey said she would serve the food in the dress that is pictured above. It went for $17,000. (It will be a crowded dinner as the Governor also auctioned a similar item at the Franklin Square Gala in the Spring, which I wrote first here.)
• Scott Webster, Jessica Hawkes and Bruno Pouget, Noble restaurant. I just had dinner the other night at Noble. Loved their octopus. Scott has a new column in Phillymag.com in the Goods section. It's about men's style, and I can't think of anyone better than Scott to write about style.
• Christian Gael, Noble's extraordinarily talented mixologist with a couple of happy campers.
• Lacroix at The Rittenhouse's Billy Riddle and Matthew Gentile with Chef Jason Cichonski. I tried to ply Jason with liquor to see if he would spill the secrets on his new restaurant, but to no avail. For Feastival he made delicious pork rinds with a dipping sauce.
• Adsum's Matt Rumrey, Caleb Gibson and Chef/Owner Matt Levine. Levine tells me he is participating in No-Holds-Barred Celebrity Extravaganza Poker Game on the first night of The MMA and Sports Extravaganza Takes Over Trump Taj Mahal, October 22 - 24 ( http://www.MMAsportsExpo.com)
• Britt Riley, Jill Encarnacion and Tom Dean at the bar.
• Congratulations to Dana Harrow and Patrick Maloney. They were recently engaged and are planning a wedding next year. He popped the question in the same class room at University of Penn, where they had met years earlier.
• Wednesday night was the most anticipated new event to happen to the foodie/fringe community this year. The fringe festival started out years ago as an avant garde, brilliant idea to showcase many art performances, one man shows, and events. Now it's blown up into a unique Philadelphia experience and attendance has grown with each year. But in these trying times the budget has ballooned, but the funding has not. So this year a few heavy hitters in the food industry decided to create a fund raiser to benefit the Fringe Festival called Feastival.
• Andy and Katie Boyle, Healthy Bites
• Sheeb Mankus and JT Christensen called it a night as I caught them on my way out. All in all Feastival was a sold out hot happening. Very impressive in it's freshman year, and a huge success in helping to infuse some much needed cash into the Fringe Festival for another year.
• Elisabeth Aulepp and Robert Fuentes enjoyed hanging out, but not as much as the acrobatic above their head. Fun stuff.
• Karen Riley, Jen Oliver (Philebrity), Amy Branzuela and Danielle DelRe both of Starr Restaurants.
• Robin and Wendy Palaima
• Ilana Waber, with sister Jessica Waber and Alex Felman.
• David and Muna Wurtzel had a great time.
• Sal and Inga D'Angelo have a certain glow about them as they leave with parting gifts of popcorn and Gerber daisies.
• Wednesday night high above Rittenhouse Square in the new much talked about 10 Rittenhouse condo Philadelphia’s fashion community came together for the official kick off party to the 10-day celebration of style - The Philadelphia Collection 2010. http://thephiladelphiacollection.org/) The beautiful people were out in full force including FBH Model Lacora Emerson in Charles Jade from Kimberly Boutique and Terri Guard in South Moon Under.
