• A bar created to celebrate my mother and to raise awareness of ovarian cancer.
e wanted to create a confection that would celebrate the memory of my mother, Kathleen Glass, and her inspiring spirit, strength and zest for life. During her five year fight with Stage IV ovarian cancer, she reminded us that the only way to face life’s most difficult challenges
was with happiness, friends and chocolate. Coffee, pecan and caramel were her favorites.
Raising awareness to the prevalence of ovarian cancer is incredibly important. The symptoms are vague and subtle, making it hard to diagnose. A portion of the proceeds from each bar benefit the Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation. We hope with a little sweetness you will join our efforts to support research and find a cure to conquer this devastating disease.
THIS BAR is a collaboration with
Monica Glass – Kathleen’s Daughter and pasty chef at 10 Arts
Bistro & Lounge by Eric Ripert at The Ritz Carlton, Philadelphia.
Christopher Curtin – Master chocolatier and owner
of Eclat Chocolate in West Chester, Pennsylvania.

JERSEY BOYS is the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons. I had a chance to see the musical last week and I say run don't walk to get tickets. The show was toe taping fun. I hear the tickets are selling fast and that's not a surprise since it has been nearly impossible to obtain them in NYC for the past 4 years. Above The Geator with Bunny Sigler, who sang a few songs and got the crowd dancing.
 • Sue and Larry Durst are big supporters of the American Cancer Society, and enjoyed the evening.

The daughter of Gene Hart—late Hockey Hall of Fame broadcaster and longtime voice of the Flyers, Lauren is a non-Hodgkins lymphoma survivor and strong advocate for ca...ncer awareness. The bald head to the right is her husband Todd Carmichael. The award was presented to her by Flyers owner Ed Snider, who is looking forward to tonight's Flyers home opener and the ceremony to raise the Eastern Conference Champions banner.

 • Yesterday Philly Pride Presented OutFest, the group’s annual October event, “in the heart of the Gayborhood”. There were numerous vendors, carnival games, as well as several entertainment acts, including emcee Henri David, Steve Andrade, Miss Phily Gay Pride 2010 “Alexis Carter”, Finesse Ross, Skyanna Blue, Ziggy Stardust & the Spiders from Mars. Plus the reality show "Kendra" was filming the event to be included in the show. No sign of Kendra, but I did see a Diana Ross

 • Iron Chef, restaurateur and cookbook author Bobby Flay in town to sign copies of his new book "Bobby Flay’s Throwdown! More Than 100 Recipes from Food Network’s Ultimate Cooking Challenge." XIX's Lindsey Kaskowitz and Kut Schaum are big fans and were excited to get a few copies signed. Lindsey tells me that for a couple of summers she taught acting to Bobby's daughter Sophie Flay at a summer camp in Connecticut. Maybe she'll become an actress like her step-mom, Stephanie March.
