• The organization prides it's self in setting an example for the children they are mentoring, leading by example, being role models, giving the kids hope for a brighter future. Guests for the evening included Drimaine Mills and Kia Sterling were decked out for the event.
• This Ryan Howard signed jersey created a bidding war between two guys who bidded the price up to $2500, at which point David Neff, Neff PR, approached the podium and said "I think someone in this room knows Ryan Howard and can get him to sign another jersey and we can donate $5,000 to Mentor Me." Good idea, and the auction was well on it's way to making their $10.000 goal for the event. http://www.mentormecs.com/about.html

• The Love Entry: It was good to run into my old friend KJ Hickey who I haven't seen since New Years Day, must be in love with Erica Heilman who's been occupying his time. Talk about love, congratulations Kaci Mitz, engaged. See the rock on her finger. Lindsay Kravitz, readers of PhillyChitChat.com know the background of these two best friends. A few years ago Kaci moved into Center City, and then told her friend Lindsay about a condo for sale right across the hall from her. Lindsay moved in, and at some point Kaci introduced her to her friend Tony Rufo, who's family built the condo's. Now Tony and Lindsay live happily in bliss down the hall from Kendra Wilkinson. You just never know where you are going to meet Mr or Ms Right?
• Another perfect couple: Ike and Renee Reese. While the Philadelphia Eagles players tend to the game, Renee has been organizing the players wives into doing various charity outings like the NFL Basketball Wives game against the Washington Redskins wives a few weeks ago that benefited the Susan G Komen organization.

• Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson can count on seeing his mother, Gayle, in the stands for his games each week. Monday night she stood in his place and picked up the Mentor Me Community Impact Award as he recovers from that terrible blow on the ball field Sunday. Standing behind Mrs. Jackson is Jeremy Maclan, Max Jean Gilles and other Eagles players (that I hope Janine can identify or someone at PhillyMag that watches sports.) Mrs. Jackson asked that prayers be said for DeSean as he was in a lot of pain, and they were needed. She talked about his dedication to the kids, how important the mentoring program was, the impact it made on the kids, as well as how DeSean enjoyed participating in the program. She also touched on The DeSean Jackson Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer http://www.Foundation10.com. DeSean is the Honorary Chair for this year’s Purple Stride Philadelphia event held on November 6, 2010, to benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. I'm sure if he's not there, Mrs. Jackson will be there to walk in his place. It was an honor to hear her speak.

• Before the night was over, VH1's Tough Love's host Steve Ward took to the stage to MC the live auction. Although he said he had never been an auctioneer before he did a really good job in encouraging the audience to fork over some funds for the good of the charity. A signed Michael Vicks jersey went for $400, a signed DeSean Jackson helmet and jersey sold for $1800 (bought by DeSean's manager who then gave it to the two young boys who were honored with the Brian Westbrook Award.), then the big item for the night.
